Community Library Training Program courses begin in September, January and April. Applications to register for courses must be submitted by the course registration deadlines posted in the Course Offerings section of the CLTP web site (normally about one month before the course start date.)

To register in an upcoming CLTP course complete the Online CLTP Application Form. Returning students will need their student number to register. Please contact the CLTP program assistant or program coordinator if you don't know your student number.

Applicants to the program must be adults who are high school graduates (or equivalent) and have good written and oral English language skills. They must also be residents of British Columbia. Students are also required to have regular access to the Internet, basic Web skills, and a personal email account.

Regular access to a public or other library is essential to complete many of the practical requirements of the courses.

Students have sixteen weeks in which to finish a course. Registrants who have completed at least half of a course, may apply for a further 16-week extension and must pay the registration fee again. Students must, however, re-register no later than four weeks after a course officially finishes (these four weeks are counted as part of the sixteen week extension). Only one re-registration/extension per person per course is permitted.

Payment of registration fees is by cheque. Cheques must be made payable to the Minister of Finance and dated for the first day of class. Please submit a separate cheque for each course by the course registration deadline(one month before the course start date.)

* Students must confirm their public library of Indian Band affiliation by having the Confirmation of Public Library or Band Affiliation form (sent via email), completed by the chief librarian, other library manager/supervisor or board chair of their library. To qualify as a staff person or a volunteer, an individual must currently be working or volunteering in a British Columbia public library (under the Library Act) or an Indian Band library/resource centre. Public libraries include British Columbia reading centres.

Refunds

Registration fees for CLTP courses are 100% refundable within four weeks of the course start date (the exact deadline for withdrawals is set at the beginning of each term). Requests for refunds must be submitted in writing (email or fax are fine) to the CLTP program coordinator or program assistant at the Public Library Services Branch on or before the deadline for withdrawals. No refunds are available after that date.
