Poem
THIS IS A DRAFT ONLY

Catch the reading Bug by Alison Campbell

When you’re bored and you’re restless
And you don’t know what to do
There’s nothing on the TV,
The computer’s useless, too;
When they ask you what you want,
And all you can do is shrug,
The best thing for you to do
Is catch the reading bug!

When everyone’s on holiday
And all your friends are gone:
Trekking mountains in Nepal;
Paddling up the Amazon,
And you’re left all alone at home
Feeling like a slug,
The only thing for you to do
Is catch the reading bug!

How do you catch the reading bug?
Where do you start to look?
Head to the library,
And open up a book!
Once you’ve started reading
You might find you just can’t stop--
Morning, afternoon and night,
You’ll read until you drop.

Once you’ve caught the reading bug
There’s nowhere you can’t go,
You’ll discover wild amazing things
You didn’t know you didn’t know
Adventure, fun and mystery
Wait between the covers
The reading bug leads to treasures
For all book lovers

But one night while you’re reading,
From the pile stacked by your bed,
An errant little notion
May wander through your head,
With all those books you want to read,
You’ll wonder, which is true:
Did you catch the bug
Or did it catch you?
